ECO-BEDFORD meets on Monday, January 30th

EcoBedford, a coalition of several, local environmental groups, will have its quarterly meeting on Monday, January 30th from 7:30-9:00 PM in the Town Hall Multi-Purpose Room.  All are invited.

This month’s meeting is sponsored by the Bedford Energy Task Force and Transition Town Bedford.

The evening’s speaker will be Nick Hutchings, Research Analyst, MA House Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change who will brief the gathering on proposed e-waste legislation.  Electronic waste is the fastest growing material brought to landfills and contains toxins when it is not disposed of properly.  At present, Massachusetts does not have an e-waste law despite more than twenty states already having one in place.  Mr. Hutchings will also address ways to encourage manufacturers to consider end use of products in their production of goods.

Finally, the evening will introduce what the various environmental groups in town are doing.  If you have been considering getting more involved with sustainability and social justice issues, members hope you will come to the session to hear updates and explore concrete ways your help is needed.
